Tips to Prepare Your Home for Sale

The Spring market is officially here, and there has never been a better time to sell your property. The Halifax market is hot, and we are currently experiencing a seller's market. When meeting with your real estate agent, the following items should be overviewed prior to listing:

1. Declutter
Decluttering is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your property shows well. Ideally, if you have a garage or storage unit you can move non-essential items out of the home. The goal for a listing is to allow the Buyer to envision themselves living in the space. Additionally, when you declutter, the home feels larger and more spacious. A win win!

2. Fresh Paint
A fresh coat of paint is an inexpensive way to make your home look updated. When choosing colours, opt for neutrals and stay away from bold and unique selections. Again, the goal is to have the buyer feel at home in the space and create an environment where they can envision making this house their home.

3. Clean Your Home
Take time to give your home a thorough clean, especially if you have pets. We offer this service to our clients, as the first impression of the home is paramount for the buyer.

4. Impress with Curb Appeal
A clean yard that is well maintained goes a long way. This includes removing clutter, making sure the yard is accessible and doing general seasonal upkeep (i.e. mowing the lawn in the Summer and shovelling the steps in the Winter).

Through these steps, coupled with home staging (if required), your property will be positioned to sell at a competitive price. If you are considering selling your property, please don't hesitate to reach out for a no-obligation home valuation, marketing and pricing strategy.
